Yu-Gi-Oh! hand simulator and opening-hand odds
The TCGenius hand simulator draws opening hands from your Yu-Gi-Oh! deck, going first (5 cards) or second (6), and works out over 10,000 hands how often you open with a starter, with interaction, with both, or brick. It runs in your browser and is free.
What problem it solves
Ratios decide games before anyone plays a card. Is 12 starters enough? Does the third copy of a hand trap matter? Guessing from a few test draws is misleading, because a handful of hands can look great or terrible by chance.
The simulator draws thousands of hands so the numbers settle, and it also lets you draw one hand at a time to see what you'd actually do with it.
How it works
- Open your deck in the Yu-Gi-Oh! builder and press "Draw a hand".
- Choose going first (5 cards) or going second (6 cards), draw again, or draw one more card.
- See a verdict on the hand, and the odds over 10,000 hands of a starter, interaction, both, or a brick.
- Pick specific cards to get your own odds of opening them.
- Ask "What's my best play with this hand?" and Genny walks through the line.

Questions
What are the odds of opening a starter in Yu-Gi-Oh!?
It depends on how many starters you run and your deck size. Put your deck in the builder and the simulator draws 10,000 hands and gives you the exact share for your list, going first and going second.
How many hand traps should I run?
Check it with your own list: add or remove a copy and compare how often you open with interaction. The simulator shows the change over 10,000 hands.
Why test going second separately?
Going second you draw 6 cards, so your odds of opening a starter or interaction are higher. The simulator lets you pick.
What counts as a brick?
A hand with no starter and nothing playable to begin your combo. The simulator uses the card roles it knows for your deck.
Does the hand simulator need an account?
No. It runs in your browser for free. Asking Genny about a hand needs a free account.
