Privacy Policy
Draft for review by a lawyer before TCGenius opens to the public or charges anyone. Version 2026-10-06.
What we collect
- Account: email, display name, a securely hashed password (never the password itself), whether you've confirmed your email, the date you agreed to these terms, and that you confirmed you're 13 or older.
- What you make: decks for each game, favorite cards, ratings, comments, votes, follows and your chats with Genny.
- Usage and limits: how many coach messages and guides you used each day, and what your AI use cost us, so we can apply plan limits.
- Network address, scrambled: to stop people resetting free limits with new accounts, we store a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your network address next to AI usage and new sign-ups. We don't store the address itself.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We keep your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and subscription status, never your card details.
- Visit counts: we count page views by day, page type and the site you came from (for example Google or Reddit). These counts use no cookies and don't identify you. We also count which buttons, tabs and links get used (for example a "buy on TCGplayer" link or a Genny question), again without recording who did it.
- Cookies and browser storage: a login cookie, an invite cookie while the app is invite-only, and browser storage for your preferences (like dark mode) and a browser ID. Advertising cookies are described below.
How it's used
To run TCGenius: save your decks, answer your questions, enforce plan limits, prevent abuse, confirm your email, process subscriptions and keep the service safe. We don't sell your personal information.
Who it's shared with
- AI provider: your chat messages and the deck you're working on are sent to our AI provider (through OpenRouter) to generate answers.
- Email delivery: your email address is sent to our email provider to deliver the confirmation link.
- Bot check: the sign-up form may use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you're a person. Cloudflare processes information about your browser to do this.
- Stripe: for payments.
- Public posts: shared decks, comments and ratings are visible to other users with your display name.
Ads
Free public pages (card, set, blog and tournament pages) may show ads from Google or another ad network. Ad networks may use cookies to show ads and measure them, including ads based on your interests. You can turn off personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com, and see how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU and UK), we ask for your consent first. The deck builders never show ads, and Pro members don't see ads.
Store links
Some links to stores (TCGplayer, eBay, Amazon, Cardmarket) are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. The store sees that you came from TCGenius. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Children
TCGenius isn't for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time: hello@tcgenius.gg. Deleting your account removes your decks, favorites, chats and ratings; we may keep payment records the law requires.
