What problem it solves

Yu-Gi-Oh! has four formats that play by different lists: the TCG and OCG Forbidden & Limited lists, Master Duel's own list and Genesys, which bans no cards but gives some a point cost. A deck that's fine in one can be illegal in another.

The builder keeps the format in mind for you. Pick it once and every card you add, and every card Genny suggests, is held to that format's limits, including announced ban-list changes that haven't taken effect yet.

How it works

  1. Open the Yu-Gi-Oh! builder and pick a format: TCG, OCG, Master Duel or Genesys.
  2. Add cards by search, paste a list, load a .ydk file, start from a tournament deck, or ask Genny ("Build me a meta deck", "Budget deck under $50").
  3. The checker counts the Main Deck (40 to 60), Extra Deck (15) and Side Deck (15), copy limits from the ban list and, in Genesys, the point total.
  4. Score the deck against the current meta, draw test hands, or run the duel simulator.
  5. Export a .ydk, copy it as text, share a link, or use "Buy this deck" to price the whole list on TCGplayer.

How many cards are in a Yu-Gi-Oh! deck?

The Main Deck is 40 to 60 cards, the Extra Deck up to 15 and the Side Deck up to 15. The builder counts all three for you. Most competitive decks run 40 cards in the Main Deck to draw their best cards more often.

How do Genesys points work in the deck builder?

Genesys has no Forbidden list. Some cards cost points instead, and a deck may total 100 points by default. The builder adds up the points of every card in your Main, Extra and Side Deck and lets you change the cap if your event uses a different one. Link and Pendulum Monsters aren't allowed.

Can I build Master Duel decks?

Yes. Pick Master Duel and the builder uses Master Duel's own ban list. Genny lists each card's rarity and the craft cost instead of a dollar price.

Can I import a .ydk file?

Yes. Load a .ydk or paste a list of counts and names, and you can export a .ydk to play it in a simulator client.

Does it know about upcoming ban list changes?

Yes. Announced changes are shown with their date and flagged on your deck, but aren't applied until the day they take effect.

Is the Yu-Gi-Oh! deck builder free?

Yes. Building, checking, scoring, test hands and one simulation a day are free. Pro adds more Genny, more simulations and "Prove this deck".
